Corrupted database

ngan

I have Access XP. the mdb file is around 54MB.

When I tried to open my mdb, it says it needs to be
repaired. I go ahead and hit yes for the repair. In the
middle of the repair, the access program crashes.

If I try to create a new db and import, during the looking
of the the old db, it asks if i want to repair. I say
yes, same problem.

I've tried to open Access and do the compact and repair
and choose that db file...same problem.

I can't even get it to finish repairing. Never had this
problem before.

Is there a way to recover the tables?

It is possible that a portion of the database is damaged. Create a new
database an import only a set of tables at a time. After each import execute
the compact/repair. Continue this will each area queries, forms etc. This
will help you determine where the corruption is occurring. I realize this is
time consuming, but it may be the only way. However, first you may want to
try changing a setting in the Registry. Remember this specific to the
machine in which you execute the compact/repairs.

It also may mean that a setting under your register is set too low. There is
a Max Record Lock setting that is probably set too low. The default size is
9600. This setting needs to be around 100,000 according to some older
documentation.
