Corrupt Windows/system32/config/system

I repaired the Windows/system32/config/system error by rebuilding the hives
as suggested in MS KB. Two weeks later I got the error again. I did another
rebuild and it worked. I know that MSKB states that this problem was taken
care of with SP1. I had SP 2 on this system. I think it was downloaded.
Before SP2 was installed the system had SP 1 and there was no problem. I
really don't want to remove SP2. Does anyone have a suggestion on what might
be happening here.

Over-heated or defective RAM can often cause this problem.
