Corrupt user account

Since we upgraded to Windows XP last April, on 4 occassions the same user has
experianced the same problem.

He will login in and explorer.exe will not launch. We will get the bitmap
background, but nothing else. When it starts happening, it happens on all
PCs in the company, meaning he can log in to any PC and it will happen. Any
other user can log in to his PC and it will start properly.

We do not use roaming profiles, only local profiles. So far the only fix I
have found is to delete his AD account on the server and recreate. It is a
hassle because I then have to salvage his old email account and reattach it
to the new login.

I have very good antivirus software running and this particular user does
not have permissions to install any program.

I had hoped that our upgrade from SBS2000 to SBS2003 would solve the
problem. The upgrade was 2 weeks ago and this morning, his problem is back.

Since the user is my General Manager, the guy who signs the paychecks, I
would really like to find a solution.

1. Have you thought about spyware?

2. Perhaps the GM is his/her own worst enemy.

I did run adaware on the GM's machine, under my login, and nothing is found.

A couple reasons I don't think spyware is an issue

1. Once the problem starts, it happens on every pc he tries to log in to.
It isn't isolated to one XP machine
2. No other user who logins in to his PC experiances any problems.
3. The user has no ability to install anything. Hasn't had for 6 months.
If he needs an active x control, I have to install it. All PC's in the
company are locked down this way. Specifically to prevent spyware problems.
