Corrupt pagefile

I have Windows XP Home edition installed. Every time I log I am told that
the pagefile is to small and hat I should adjust that from the control
panel.

My problem is that I can not adjust it from the control panel. I get to the
place and can change the settings but the stupid computer does not react on
that. I am told to restart to make the settings take effect but after the
restart it is the same error again.

I can not find a pagefile.sys either. I have tried to move pagefile to
another disk but with the same result. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Pagefile.sys is viewable if you uncheck 'Hide protected operating systems
files' in the folder options view tab. What is the recommended size and the
currently allocated size of the page file? Are you using a customer size or
system managed size? How much memory do you have? If the pagefile is
corrupted try choosing No paging file, rebooting, and then setting it to
System managed size. Hope that helps.

Open Control Panel|ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. If Intel Application Accelerator
is listed, remove that item. Then visit here, and read all the
documentation...
