Correcting incorrect user name/password

Max Scott

I have an Access 97 address database for my own use on my
own computer. I have always been able to access it okay,
but now I am asked for a user name and password. I tried
entering a user name and password (using Tools), but
apparently not correctly. When I try to open Access now,
after entering my name/password in the pop-up window, I
get Error 3029 "Not a valid account name or password." The
help options are no help at all; i.e., I can no longer
open Access at all. I tried restoring (Windows ME Help and
Support) to an earlier time. That did not help either. Can
someone tell me how I can access my database at this
point? I badly need to get information out of it soon.

You should start by searching for all *.mdw files on your computer, and
noting their path(s).

Use Start, Run, wrkgadm.exe - that will show you the workgroup you currently
joined to by default. Click on Join and join the standard system.mdw that
ships with Access. It usually is located in the windows system folder.

If you only find one mdw in the first step, post back.

you the files on CD? I am not able to zip and send. You

Reply to the newsgroup. Sending me your files will not help as you need to
change settings on your computer. Did you try the steps I outlined?
