Corel used F7. Does Office have keystrokes for a HardTab?

I often use extracts from other documents and these extracts are not lists
and I need to be able to "simply" use Hard Tabs to indent it as I choose, in
whatever document I am in, and preferably at the beginning of the insert. I
truly hate going back to the second line and tabbing. List Paragraph Style
is fine for a straight paragraph indent; but when the paragraph is introduced
by a number, we are back to the second line rule. What am I not seeing?

If you're looking for a Hanging Indent, you can drag the appropriate slider
on the ruler to any desired position, or you can use Ctrl+T to apply a
hanging indent to the first tab stop (repeat for each additional tab stop;
by default these will be the built-in tab stops at half-inch intervals).

What are you trying to do that the Tab key doesn't do?

Why are you using List Paragraph Style rather than Normal Style?

<<What are you trying to do that the Tab key doesn't do?>>

A hanging indent, apparently.

<<Why are you using List Paragraph Style rather than Normal Style?>>

Because it has a hanging indent.

Very difficult to properly explain a project and I apologize. Suzanne's
reference to Ctrl T opened the doorway to better do what I need to do.
Instead of relying on the automatic tabs, I inserted a Left Tab at the 0.5"
mark [to enter the clause # - 3.2]; then I used Ctrl T, twice, to begin the
paragraph. Apparently, Ctrl T doesn't start from the position of the cursor
but from the left margin. Worked fine. This formatting ends upon using
ENTER. List Paragraph Style stays in effect until I change the Style back to
Normal or whatever.

The hanging indent will be retained when you press Enter provided you're
still using the same style. If the "Style for following paragraph" is
different (which will be the case if you're using a heading style, as all
headings are followed by Normal), then it will be different.

Note, however, that you can have both a left indent and a hanging indent;
really the easiest way to set these is using the ruler: see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/UsingRulers.htm. Once you've figured
out what indents you want, you should include them in the style you're
using.
