Cordless Mouse Snaps to Left Edge of Screen

My cordless mouse pointer keeps on clinging or snapping to the left edge of
the screen. I've had this mouse for about 2 months now. It was fine until
last week after having a Windows Automatic Update installed. Even so, it
doesn't happen all the time. When it happens, I temporarily switch to a
wired mouse, use it for a while, then switch back to the wireless until it
happens again. I haven't quite figure out the pattern what triggers it.
Anybody else with the same problem?

I have the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse and Windows XP SP2

TIA

Replaced the batteries yet?
Resync'ed the mouse to the receiver yet?
Have more than one pointing device, like the mouse and a touchpad?
