Copying system

Does anyone happen to know what it takes to copy your restore partition? As
I have XP Pro for laptops from IBM my old one seemed set up in a rather odd
way (which I don't remember the details of) and I haven't a clue how to find
it on CD . (XP came on 9 IBM CD's which don't seem to be organized at all
like MS CD's.)

It appears that none of the imaging, copying, cloning programs will actually
copy your entire drive, just a partition at a time, which means that the
restore partition is missing. It appears that I have no restore system at
all.

Thanks

Have you looked at the Paragon range?

Since you have an IBM Thinkpad (presumably you have a Thinkpad), it doesn't
matter about imaging the restore partition. IBM/Lenovo laptops are unique in
that if you image even just the system drive you will no longer be able to
use the restore partition.

However, if you image your system with something like Acronis True Image
which also does incremental backups, you will have no need to ever use the
restore partition anyway. It is far more preferable to restore your system
to the way it was yesterday than to the way it was in 2004.

I don't know what imaging programs you tried but Ghost will image either the
entire drive or just a partition on it, just depends on what you select. If
you select a disk image then any and all partitions will be included in the
image.
