copying from web to word

Please help. I have long been able to copy a 'doc' from the net to Word;
save and pull up later from the current documents list. However, lately when
I do this and pull up the doc done and saved in MS Word, it pulls up in
WordPad and the document is in gibberish or symbols.

What is happening? I have not used Vista until recently and have on this
new computer. Is that making the difference?

How can I 'fix' my docs saved in Word and get them to pull up that way?
Why do they pull up as Wordpad docs in my recent documents list when I did
not use that when doing the doc?
How can I fix those docs?

The documents have not changed. The document file association in Windows is
currently WordPad. Change it back to Word. See
http://www.gmayor.com/Document_Not_Found.htm.
