Copying format in charts

Is there a way to copy the formatting of a chart to another chart? ie same
colour bars, font types and sizes etc.

You can select the entire chart, choose Copy from the Edit menu, select
another chart, then choose Paste Special from the Edit menu, and use the
Copy Formats option. This copies the formats in the copied chart, as well as
chart and axis title text, so any title in the pasted-to chart are wiped
out.

You can't copy formats of individual chart elements, but what I sometimes do
is format the element I wish to copy, change one thing and change it back,
OK out of the dialog, and select the element in the other chart, and use F4
to repeat the formatting on this object.

I tried following the below process, but the Paste Special does not show as a
option when pasting. Not sure if I am following a wrong process.

When starting, I am just choosing copy, not selecting entire chart (nowhere
is that showing up up as an option).

I suspect you had no relevant data on the clipboard, so Excel couldn't paste
anything onto the second chart. You have to select the first chart
(specifically the chart area) before you copy. When it's copied, you'll get
the "moving ants" highlighted border around the chart.
