copying a user profile - error

I have a home PC with win xp sp2. I created a user account "Default User"
that will act as the default profile for my dhildren on this PC. When i
attempt to copy the user profile (System Properties> Advanced> User Profiles>
Settings> Copy To) I receive the following error: "Failed to set Security on
the Destination Profile. Error - Access is denied."
I created new users called Child 1, Child 2, etc. temporarily with full
admin rights. Logged on and then off for each new user.
Closed down machine and restarted. Logged on as Admin.
Attempted to copy settings from "Default User" to newley-created username by
browsing to each user name in C:\Documents and Settings. Make it most of the
way through and then get the "Failed to set Security on the Destination
Profile.error - Access is denied" message.

I feel like I've tried everything but am hoping one of you has a suggestion.
Please feel free to ask a question for clearification.

thanks
Mark

There already is a Default account, which is a system account. You don't
want to create a mandatory default account because then *all* new
accounts will use that as a template, not just accounts for children.

What you want to do instead is:

1. Delete all the Child* accounts so as to start over. This may not
really be necessary but since I don't know what you did, better safe
than sorry.
2. Create one Child account and set it up exactly as you want it to be
for all the children.
3. Now create new Child user accounts and log into each one once.
4. Log off and log into an account with administrative privileges.
5. Copy your ideal Child account to each one of the new Child accounts
per:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811151

Don't worry about the title - just follow the instructions for copying
the files to the new user accounts.

thank you! Your suggestion worked... well sort of anyway. I am not certain if
my expectations were met though. There are many settings that did not
migrate even though i followed the posted instructions.

For example many performance tweaks, like System Properties> Advanced>
Performance Settings> or internet explorer settings. There are additional
settings modifications that i wanted to implement for all child users that
also did not migrate.

Am I missing something?
