Copy to CD

M

Mark

Running XP and I seem to have lost the ability in "my pictures" to copy to a
cd. The help file states "If the files are located in My Pictures, under
Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD".

I've got picture tasks but haven't got the CD option. I have "view as slide
show, order prints online of print pictures". In some folders I also have
"get pictures from camera or scanner" but no reference to the CD.

Help!

Is there third party burning software such as Roxio, installed? If yes, it
may have disabled XP burning. This in turn would make the built in options
of XP's burning unavailable. You can still burn images to CDs using your
software but not using those directions.

Also other conditions might cause this picture task option to be missing.
See the following article:

Picture Tasks Options Are Not Available in a Folder That Contains Images

Mark,

Are you sure you're viewing the Properties of a CD-RW drive, and not that of
a hard drive?

See if there is a "NoCDBurning" value present under the following registry
key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

To launch the Registry Editor, type REGEDIT.EXE in Start, Run dialog.

If you find the "NoCDBurning" value in the above location, delete it.

Excellent! Thanks for posting back. Yes, the Policy settings can be set on a
per-user or on a per-machine basis.
