Copy & Paste doesn't work on first try

I've been using Vista Business for six months now, and have updated my PC
with all applicable Windows updates.

When I attempt to copy & paste a file, using either right-click or CTRL + C
and CTRL + V, the first attempt does nothing. It took me a while to
notice--"gee, that was quick" and then realize that nothing happened. And
then I thought I'd done the commands carelessly.

Now I know this is not the case. When I repeat the commands, it works.
After the first copy & paste, subsequent copy & paste commands seem to work
fine. It doesn't appear to matter if the Paste is putting a new file in the
destination, or if it's an overwrite. Behavior is the same.

Suggestions? Is there a fix for this? It's very annoying when your first
copy & paste is in front of a customer, and it doesn't work. Also
embarassing for Vista.

Thanks.

Vista and MS seem incapable of being embarrassed. It's not in their
thought process. Dodging issues, resting on their laurels, and being
lazy is more their thing.

Disabling "Remote Differential Compression" may be your solution.
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > "Turn Windows Features on or off"

and uncheck "Remote Differential Compression" and click OK.

Sorry, no, disabling "Remote Differential Compression" did not resolve the
problem.

One additional data point: It is not necessary for me to re-COPY the file;
simply re-PASTING the file will work. So the COPY command DID work on first
try; it is the PASTE command that does not work on first try.

Does anyone else have a suggestion?
