i know thats not the case here as it works with the old laptop that has
express on it. it seems to be a bug with windows mail.
:
Some email providers don't listen to requests to leave a copy of the
messages
on the server after you download them.
I am familiar with how to access pop accounts from any microsoft
program
like
express or windows mail. I have had no problem in the past with
express.
With Vista and Windows Mail I have the option checked in Advanced
features
to
leave a copy of the message on the server. However, everytime I
access
Windows Mail it downloads the message and does not leave it on the
server.
I
have a Gateway and they are supposed to support the operating system
but
they
dont have an answer other than to re-install windows which I do not
want
to
do. as anyone seen this issue as well?
:
You're welcome.
What is so hard about replacing (e-mail address removed) with
recent:
[email protected]?

Wow...are you kidding me???
I thought GMail was supposed to be...easy...???
Thanks for the heads up!!
Gmail is one of those odd providers who have their own rules.
By default, messages on the Gmail server can only be downloaded
once. They have a workaround for this problem:

I'm using G-Mail...
The behavior is odd. The messages are still visible when I go to
the
GMail web site, but they're not downloaded to my XP machine
if they're viewed by my Vista machine first...
I've never seen anything like this before...
What email provider are you using? Some of them won't leave
messages
on the server after you download them even if you tell them to.
That's the problem...I set the Leave Messages on Server
setting on
my Vista machine - that's the one that I access my mail
with first. The same thing just happened again today....
I checked my mail on my Vista machine, I have "leave messages
on
server selected", I go to my XP machine and it did not
download one message...
Did you remember to use "Leave a Copy of Messages on Server"
on the XP machine also? Without that setting, whichever
computer
downloads mail first will make it unavailable for the other
computers.

I set up two accounts in Vista mail. For both accounts I
select
"Leave a Copy of Messages on Server". I download the
message
and
it does still appear in my inbox when I access my mail
online.
The issue is that if I check my mail via Outlook Express on
a
different machine, that message doen't download...
Anyone ever see this?
