Hi,
I just got a new PC with Windows Vista Ultimate edition. I put it on my LAN
which has static IP addresses and added I added it to my one and only
workgroup. At first, when I clicked on Network, I did not see any of the
other PC's in my workgroup. I was able to get around this by changing the
network location type from public to private. After doing this, I was able
to see all of the PC's in my workgroup but I was not able to access any of
the shares on these other PC's. I was able to get around this by adding the
IP addresses of the other PC's in my workgroup to the "Trusted" list in my
Norton Internet Security personal firewall. Now, I can access the shares on
all of the workgroup PC's. I am able to copy files from these shares to my
"Documents" folder.
Now, I want to copy a file from one of these shares to the root of my C:\
drive but I can't do it. I get a message saying "Destination folder access
denied - You need permssion to perform this action." I get this even though
the account I am logged on to is a member of the local Administrators group,
which has Full Control on the C:\ drive. The only pemission that is not
checked for this group is "Special Permissions." Is there a special
permission I have to add to be able to copy a file to the root of my C:\
drive?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Paul
