I have a slide with several bullet points. I animate the first one to work
the way I want. How do I copy that animation to other bullet points on the
slide?

If it is one bulleted list, you usually animate the whole thing all at once
and set it to animate by the level you want. That is, you don't generally
animate the first bullet point and then the next and then the next. If you
have multiple text boxes with bulleted lists, you might have to use
something like Animation Carbon to copy the animations:

Your first part helped me find a way to do what I want. I would like to know
more. How do I find Animation Carbon in PowerPoint 2003?

Animation Carbon is an add-in that you can buy and install in PowerPoint.
See the Web site that I listed below.
