Copy Active, Paste Inactive In IE 6 and XP

I have a very annoying and frustrating problem with IE6 and XP Pro
(latest version with hot fix updates included. When I copy text from
IE 6, it seems to allow me to "copy" (from the right click menu or
<ctrl c>, but, after the copy, it will not let me paste (with the
right click menu or <ctrl v> (the paste remains inactive on the
"right click menu. It will work sometimes, if I copy and entire
paragraph or entire article, but, if I try to copy a portion of a
paragraph, sentence, etc or copy a different font type, then the
problem seems to be there.

I can copy within certain programs and applications, it seems, without
any flaws. ie... Eudora email & Wordpad are two that I know seem to
work fine. It just seems to be mainly, when I copy from IE6, then
trying to paste into a form window IN IE6 or go to another application
and try to paste... the past is just inactive (as though the clipboard
was cleared) The problem has just started showing up recently. Any
suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Do you first left click where you want the paste to go?

Yes, I am very familiar with how to cut and paste. The problem seems
to be that if I copy something from another program, etc.... ie...
Eudora, Agent, etc... when I open IE6 up, to make the paste to the
appropriate area (answering a message board, etc...) it clears my
clipboard. The same is true if I copy "from" IE6, when I close or
even switch to another window, to paste (if the IE6 window that I
copied from, is no longer the window in focus, it immediately clears
my clipboard also. It is something that just started and I was
looking for some possible solutions... it's annoying as hell! I do a
lot of message board replies and it requires a lot of cut and paste
for the info (along with the hundreds of other things you use cut and
past for during a typical day! lol) Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

BTW, I just copied the above paragraph to wordpad and Eudora (my email
program) and then pasted it back to here. There was no problem....
Clipboard did NOT empty. When I experience the problem, it seems IE
6 (the version I am using with XP Pro) is "always" involved.

Humm.
Sorry, but I've never had that problem. No ideas, either.
