Copernic Agent stopped working

Vista Home Premium

Copernic Agent basic 6.2 (search engine) installed and working perfectly
until a few days ago. This MAY have been triggered by enabling "Stereo Mix"
on my Realtek HD wired in card, according to the instructions given in
(posted elsewhere by Tiberius)
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/01/15/how-to-enable-wave-out-recording-in-vista/.
When attempting to run Copernic, I get a window "Could not create folder:
C:\Documents & Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION\Application
Data\Copernic\Agent\Data\ - OK" Rolling back to pre-enabling Stereo Mix with
System Restore NBG, Uninstalling and reinstalling gives same message.

I am locked out of Documents & Settings, so could not have a go at creating
that folder manually.

Any ideas out there?

TIA

No where on their web page do they say that Copernic Agent is Vista
compatible. Maybe it isn't!

Do you have UAC turned off? The virtual file redirection is also turned off
when you turn off UAC. C:\Documents and Settings doesn't exist in Vista. The
user profiles have been changed to C:\Users. When a program tries to access
Documents and Settings it is redirected through a junction. What you see in
Explorer is the junction not an actual folder. Also for older programs UAC
redirects some file and registry writes to a special virtualized storage
area. If you have UAC off turn it back on and try again. If this doesn't
work try running Copernic with compatibility turned on. If it still doesn't
work try Run as administrator.

No joy guys,

UAC always on. Tried to reinstall as administrator, compatibility set to Win
98/ME or XP or even Win95. Still the same window. Cannot create file ...

Richard, I used it originally under win98, then ME, now Vista (no problems
until now)

Any further guidance?

It sounds like Copernic is not Vista compatible. Have you checked with their
support?

Sorry to be like a dog with a bone, Kerry. But why should Copernic suddenly
be non Vista compatible? Unless (and does MACROVISION in the folder name
give the clue) it was to do with enabling "Stereo Sound".

BTW, I have emailed Copernic, but since it was a free app., I'm not too
hopeful ... Thanks for suggestions.

It could be a Windows update or as you suggest another program that is
interfering with Copernic. That's the problem with unsupported programs. All
you can do is guess as to why it's not working. Hopefully they'll come out
with a Vista version.

Hi Kerry,

Been in touch with Copernic by email. They state "Copernic Agent should work
with Windows Vista".
They have also suggested running as admin and copmat. variations. All tried
before (per this thread)
They also suggested creating a Registry key
"HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IENS" and
giving this full rights. Still no luck. See if they come up with any other
suggestions ...
