When I go to certain websites, it tells me that I need to
enable cookies in order to view that site. I set my
browser to accept all cookies, but it still will not allow
me to enter. I keep getting a message that my cookies are
not enabled. I'm using Windows 98. Can anyone tell me
what the problem is and how to fix it?
Thanks

click once on the address of the url, right click and copy, then at the
bottom of the window there is a small computer icon... click it, whrn the
window opens goto the security tab, then click the trusted sites icon, click
once in the small text box and (make sure the "url must begin with http://
is unchecked) right click paste, then click add... now lose that window,
and refresh the page.

I keep getting a message that my cookies are not enabled.

Often that message means something different from what it says.
Have you got an example of a specific link that you are trying to use?
Is there another way in to the same page?

To make sure that the site is in fact even trying to send you a Cookie
for that page you could try using the Privacy Advanced Settings dialog
to request prompts when Cookies are presented. If you don't get a
prompt the message means either that there is a saved Cookie for that
site that IE is trying to present to it or that there is no saved Cookie
but in order to use that site it must present one. Either way, you may
find that by taking an alternate route to the page you want that you avoid
the message.

Another common cause of this message is if your computer's clock
is showing the wrong date (e.g. wrong year). (Surprisingly the FAQs
for Cookies doesn't seem to mention this issue.)

Hi Maggie,
I did that and it did not help .. it is still telling me
that the cookies are not enabled. What else can I do?

After you enable cookies by sliding the bar to the medium position,
then hit "Apply".

Then LOG OFF OF YOUR COMPUTER, THEN LOG ON,
so your settings will be saved.

Take care.
