I have some tracks on one of my CD's that I want to play from my hard drive
when I am on my computer. I have transferred the files to my hard drive but
there are an unusual file type. They have an extension of .cda

Can anyone tell me how I can convert these to MP3 files?

Is there any free software out there that will convert them to MP3's?

I hope someone can help, and I appreciate any help given.

Thanks!!

Nothing wrong with promoting freeware! I've been using CDex but I'm
downloading Rip Wiz right now to give it a test drive.

Try MusicMatch.com. You can 'rip' your CD, then have a great interface
to play them, even burn new CD's... nothing wrong with the free
version...

Thanks for the executable version.

BTW, your pages are coded so (in Netscape) I can't highlight/copy the
text. Have to save the page as html, then convert to text.

Comment?

Mike, I'm not quite sure whats going on there. The pages are plain old HTML
code with a little ASP/VBScript (for the search engine and dropdown box).
Netscape shouldn't have any issues with them.

Hmmm, it highlights using Avant.

The easiest way to save (if you must save the whole page) is to select
save or save as, then bring up the .txt extension, rather than the
..htm extension. Then change the page name to something you'll remember
and add ".txt" to the end. Iirc you must do both, change from html to
txt and add .txt to the filename in NS 4.79.

The result will have some table and frame code that must be deleted
manually if tables and frames are present. Otherwise it leaves a
pretty darned clean .txt document, without resorting to a html->txt
program.

After unzipping it, Rip Wiz 2003 turns out to be an install version.
Can it be provided as an executable, given that I already have VB6
installed?

Thanks, was aware of that, not used, will try out.

Mike,
The "non-install" package available is currently only the update as
Rip Wiz 2003 requires a couple of extra .dll file's.

If you'd rather not use the install packages, you can download the update
via the URL below.

Update
http://www.it-mate.co.uk/downloads/rw_update.zip

If you do not already have the following 2 DLL file's, you can download them
from;

akrip32.dll
lame_enc.dll

http://www.it-mate.co.uk/support/ripwiz2003_download.asp#dllfiles

Note: Read Destination.txt file after downloading the DLL Package.

I've additionally updated the download packages available to reflect their
types (to save any confusion)

With the above link, I get don't even get a blank screen, I get the grey
screen (Netscape) as if there is no address in the window. (?) As if it
never gets to that address, yet I get no error message. Same in
Firebird, like no address.

Your other links always work fine in my old Netscape.

Just checked and apparently, the page had uploaded okay, but strangely
vanished (confusing even myself).
