I just bought a new computer and have Windows Mail now...I saved all my old
e-mails from the old computer (Outlook). How do I open the .msg files in
Windows Mail??
I'm not sure you can. You have two other choices of how to transfer the
messages:
1. Install Outlook, preferably version 2003 or later, under
Vista. Versions 2000 and 2002 will also run under Vista, but with a few
problems. See if Outlook can import the .msg files. Some of these
free trial versions of Microsoft Office include Outlook, but not all of
them:

Windows Mail needs to be able to use part of Outlook to be able to
import .pst files from Outlook.
2. First, transfer from Outlook to Outlook Express on your old computer.
Sorry, I don't know the details of this. Then transfer the messages from
Outlook Express to Windows Mail.

If you want your old contacts, bring along the .wab file, and if necessary,
ask us how to import it. After you copy the files to a directory on the
hard drive of your new computer, make sure the copies are read-write
instead of readonly before you import them into Windows Mail.
