Converting FAT32 to NTFS

I'm trying to upgrade from XP to Vista. Installation keeps getting
interrupted with a message telling me to "Convert FAT32 to NTFS" in Command
Prompt window. I followed the directions, but I then get an error message
reading: "Conversion from FAT32 to NTFS. Volume is not available." What
does that mena? How can I correct it? Help Please. I don't have much time
and it's imparitive that i finish ASAP. Thank you in advance.

Is there a complete backup of data? Though conversion to NTFS normally goes
well the unforeseen can happen so don't try it unless there is a full
backup. Of course you shouldn't be trying to upgrade the OS without a full
backup, or even better without imaging the system to an external drive.

See this link for converting FAT32 to NTFS, in particular pay attention to
the info on avoiding a problem with cluster size.
