Converting e-mail folders from 4.7 to 7.1

I've got about 25,000 e-mails filed away in various folders.

I'm on Netscape 4.7 and I can't convert to anything higher unless I
can also convert my e-mail files.

I tried converting to 7.0 a couple years ago, and didn't finish the
job. Now, when I delete 7.x and try to reinstall, it only converts
whatever e-mail files I had in place two years ago. It doesn't
convert the current files. I just finished such an attempt.

Clearly I have to get rid of everything that I did two years ago so
that when I install 7.1 it will convert my 4.7 e-mail files and not
whatever it's got stored somewhere that relates to what I tried a
couple years ago. I uninstalled 7.1 before reinstalling, and I
don't see any 7.0 folder anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

Does this make any sense?

Can anyone tell me how to convert from 4.7 to 7.1 AND get all my
e-mail folders converted over, too?

What does Netscape have to do with Windows XP?
