Convert Word Pad documents to Word documents

All of my Word 2003 documents were suddenly converted to WordPad documents.
How can I switch thses hundreds of documents back to Word?

All of my Word 2003 documents were suddenly converted to WordPad documents.
How can I switch thses hundreds of documents back to Word?

The documents have not changed at all. What changed is the setting in
Windows that tells it what program to open when you double-click a
..doc file in Explorer.

To restore the setting, open the Start > Run box and enter the command

winword /r

(notice the space before the slash). When you click OK, you won't see
anything happen, but Word will re-register itself with Windows. That
should fix it.

Sorry for the duplicate reply... I didn't notice at first that
this question had already been answered.

I reregistered, but the Wordpad Documents are still listed with WordPad icons
and open as Wordpad.
