Convert 13 hours a 10 minutes to total minutes

I would like to track production start/stop times and then
convert the total time to minutes instead of hours and
minutes.
I have been using a formula like the one below for
figuring the total time
=(B1-A1+(B1<A1)) and that works fine.

A1: Start A2: Stop Total
1:00 am 3:15 am 2:15

What I would like to do is convert the total (2HR:15MIN)
to 135 minutes

Multiply the result by 1440 and format the cell as General or numeric.

When I try it with start and stop in A and B and formatted as time, simply
multiplying by 1440 seems to work or, am I missing something? (g)
