Control show from bullet to bullet

G

I set this show up, but it doesn't seem to work. I am trying to control the
flow of each slide, in an attempt to ensure that the watcher reads each
bullet,

So here is what I have:

4 bullets (call them a, b, c, d)

4 paragraphs of text (call them 1, 2, 3 ,4)

2 autoshapes - next and previous buttons.

My animation is set as follows. When you come to the slide, you can see A. A
is set to spin (change) on click. With previous, 1 is set to appear. B is set
to appear 5 seconds after previous. Click B - B spins and 2 appears, after 5
seconds, C appears. Click C - C spins and 3 appears, 5 seconds later D
appears. Click D - D spins and 4 appears, 5 seconds later, the next and
previous buttons show.

I set this all up, and went to presentation mode to test it out. I have just
the A bullet showing on the screen. When I click A, 1 appears, then nothing.
I can wait forever. I can click all over the screen. The animation doesn't
continue. B never shows up. I have swithced from Presenter mode to Kiosk
mode and back again. Nothing is working. I have tried different clipart for
the bullets as well as autoshapes. I have created and recreated.

Can anyone please help me?

Thank you,

Thank you for providing such great detail!

For this,

Click B - B spins and 2 appears

You mean B exits, right? Are you sure you have the exit happening on click?
The B entrance (from just before) isn't happening at the same time as the
"on click" B exit, is it?

Have you looked at the advanced animation timeline? I find it often is more
helpful to look at that than deal with the dialogs to see what's really
happening. Just right-click one of the animations in the task pane and "show
advanced timeline." You can also drag the edge of the pane to the left so
you can see more of the timeline.

Thank you for replying. I apologize in not getting back sooner. Every time
I came back here, my post was not anywhere to be found.

Anyway, I made a jpg, so you could see the printscreen of my custom animation:

http://www.geocities.com/misscrf/customanimation.jpg

The yellow stars with the mouse are the change appearance on click. The
triggers show the shapes (text) that show on click trigger of the "donut" or
bullet. Then the green stars for the next donuts with the clocks are the
delays for the next bullet to show.

Did I miss something here?

Is what I want to do not possible?

Thank you,

No need to apologize -- the web interface to the newsgroups hasn't been
displaying recent posts for a couple of days. So the problem was on
Microsoft's end, definitely not yours. :)

Anyway, sometimes a picture is worth 1000 words, and this seems to be one of
those times! But I'm having a bit of a time figuring out what you want. Let
me see if I have it right, based on your original post and the picture.

When you come to the slide, you can see Doughnut 5.

When you click the mouse, Doughnut 5 spins and Doughnut 6 appears.

Now, you said in the original post that B (which I assume is Shape 9?) is
set to appear 5 seconds after previous. But I don't see any animation for
that.

I do see where, if you click Shape 9, it entrances and Doughnut 6
emphasises. (Those are real words, I swear! lol) But I don't see just a
regular animation for shape 9.

Now, you also said this:
the A bullet showing on the screen. When I click A, 1 appears, then
nothing.
I can wait forever. I can click all over the screen. The animation
doesn't
continue. B never shows up.

You have trigger animations set here. Triggers happen *when you click a
specific object.* The object you click to make the animation happen is
listed where it says "trigger."

So, for example, you have your 2nd part of the animation set up so that
Shape 9 entrances when you click Doughnut 5. You can tell this because just
above the entrance animation for shape 9, it says Trigger: Doughnut 5.

Now, the emphasis for Doughnut 6 is also set with a trigger. So you have to
click Doughnut 5 again in order for Doughnut 6 to do its emphasis thing.

Based on your original post, I think you don't want triggers, you just want
regular animations to happen "on mouse click." The difference is that "on
mouse click" (no trigger) happens when you just click the mouse; it doesn't
matter *what* or *where* you click, you just click and the animation
happens. This is so presenters with remote controls can click -- or you
could use the space key on your keyboard or up/down arrows or the P
(previous) or N (next) buttons or a variety of options -- to advance the
slides and animations. Triggers, on the other hand, are specific to an
object -- you have to click an actual object in order for the animtion to
happen.

Does that make sense?

Maybe this page will help you understand triggers a bit:
http://www.echosvoice.com/triggers.htm

Holler back if that doesn't help. If you specify what you want to have
happen based on the names of the objects in your picture, I'm sure we can
help you figure out the specific setttings you need. [Sorry, I'm having
trouble translating As and Bs and 1s and 2s to Doughnuts and Shapes. :) ]

Hi. It looks like 6 donut appears when u click 5 donut, but that is because
I had things set with the text to trigger on the click of 5 and 6 to appear 5
seconds after. I have also worked with having the text appear with previous
of clicking 5, and 6 appearing 5 secs after that. Neither are working right
now. When I go to presentation mode, I can click the donut all day. It
doesn't do anything. Doesn't spin, or change, nothing else appears. grr.

Any thoughts?

Actually, it doesn't look as if Donut 6 appears when you click donut 5.

It does appear that when you click the mouse (just click, not as a trigger),
donut 5 does an emphasis, and donut 6 enters (either at the same time or
with a short delay -- I can't see the settings, so I don't know.) These are
the first two animation settings in the list.

On the next animation in the list, when you click donut 5 (this is a trigger
animation), Shape 9 enters.

Then on the next animation in the list, when you click donut 5 again, donut
6 gets an emphasis (that's the yellow star in front of donut 6).

Then on the next animation in the list, shape 10 enters when you click donut
6 (this is a trigger animation).
The next animation is shape 11, and it enters at the same time as shape 10
(or with a delay, I dunno).
The next is donut 7, and it also enters at the same time as shape 11 (or
with a delay)
And then if you click donut 6 again, donut 7 will emphasis (that's the
yellow star in front of donut 7 in the list).

And so on.

I think it may be easier to resolve if you started over. Based on the first
description of the animation you wanted, you don't need trigger animations.
But I'm having a hard time understanding for sure what it is you do want,
sorry.

And, as I mentioned earlier, you may want to check the advanced animation
timeline. I find it often helps me see what's actually happening.

lol. Echo, in response to your last post. This is just one of a hundred
ways that I have tried. In the one with the triggers, I have the first para
appear as a trigger of 5, 5 secs after previous 6 appears, on trigger of 6
click, 6 changes and 2nd bullet appears. etc.

I changed all of this to click 5 - 5 changes - 1 para appears w/ previous.
after prev (5 secs) 6 appears, click 6 - 6 changes - 2 para appears w/
previous.... etc.

None of this has worked. I click the first bullet and it does nothing!
Doesn't change, nothing appears, and I want to cry. lol.

ps. why does M$ put the "quote" of the whole thread in each reply? lol. It
makes finding the actual reply confusing!

Thanks for your continued help.

I'm reading the newsgroup in Outlook Express. You're reading it in a web
interface.

Most people who use newsreaders quote the part of the message they're
replying to. I understand that it can be difficult to find the reply text.
But I know I find it difficult to go back and forth between your posts to
try to figure out what you said earlier and relate it to what you're saying
now because the history of the conversation isn't included in your posts. So
I guess we both have to compromise.

ps. Why do you use a dollar sign when you abbreviate Microsoft?

I have a question... Are any of the objects on top of each other? The screen
shot shows the animations but not the slide, so I can't tell.
If an object is on top of another, it can keep you from seeing the

They have to click on a bullet or object to make the text appear, because we
need to prevent users from just clicking anywhere on the screen. We also
have to disable scrolling, which you can do by setting kiosk, but need
everything else set.
