I have windows vista home basic. since two days it is showing an item without name in control panel. click shows ony "create shortcut". You can see that in attached picture. AVG does not remove it. It is not causing any problem right now, but we have cases of crashes on campus since two days

OK ... look for, and tick or untick, hide files and folders.

I have all files/folders shown, Vista certainly has some err, unusual ones. ;)

My advice, especially where my sister is concerned, is to leave 'em hidden. :thumb:

To view that menu, press ALT+T then go to "folder options" >"view" > and then it's under "hidden files and folders" :)

Check your Vista Build Number..If it is Version 6.0(build 5536.16358.x86.eng.vista_rc1.060821-1900:Service Pack 2) Check the Microsoft Knowlege Bass.. There are patches there for this problem..Don't worry it is not a virus of any sort

where to look for windows vista version number?
I am not able to locate the patch at microsoft knowledge centre?
please give details (I am not computer expert, i am doctor so please)
any other website from where i can get it
or exact name of patch (KB__________ something?????)
