When I try to open some shortcuts in ‘control panel‘ I receive the message
“Windows cannot find ‘C:\windows\system32\rundll32’. This also holds true
when I try to make a new shortcut on my desktop.
One hint I was advised to use through this column was to obtain
‘XP_fix.exe’. This it did. I use it and the program tells me that the missing
XP files are replaced. But nothing has changed.’ Rundii32.exe’ is still
missing.
I have found ‘Rundll32 in ‘C:\windows\servicepacfiles\i386’, and tried
dragging and dropping it into ‘C:\windows\system32’ and receive the message
‘Cannot copy rundll32: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not
write-protected and that the file is not currently in use’.
Help. What’s next ?
