control.exe - CPU Usage

I am experience significant slowness with my machine as
my control.exe image name in task manager is at 100%
usage all the time.

Ironically I do not have any applications open.

Is this a common problem. How do I fix?

Try 'Diagnose Windows' at http://www.SeeMeMe.com/diagnose.htm, You can
terminate the controll.exe process and scan other malicious programs
in you system. you can ask them to customize a special removal tool
for you if you are not sure how to fix your problem.

Sounds like you've got yourself a trojan onboard. What does a scan with
a current antivirus program (meaning a version not earlier than 2002
and using updated virus definitions) show?
