Contrast and Saturation in Vuescan

How can I increase the contrast and saturation in my scans of color
negatives with Vuescan? My scans are coming out a little flat
(default settings+advanced workflow+sharpen) - the original photos are
far more vibrant than the scans I'm getting.

Thanks - Bill

You can increase overall contrast by appropriate choice of the white
point and black point. You can increase contrast in the midrange, and
often saturation by using the brightness control, which is really a
gamma multiplier.

But I find it works better to use Vuescan to produce a slightly flat
scan and then to work on contrast and saturation in my photoeditor.

At some point Ed Hamrick will add a curves control to Vuescan, and then
we will be able to exercise greater control in the program, but still it
may be better to do it in the photoeditor.
