Continuous dialing

After going off line; about 30min. later my computer starts redialing to go back on line. Even though I cancel it out it will redial again after a few minutes and will continue to do so until I finally have to shut it down. Used to have this problem back a couple of years ago when I first got XP but found a solution and it's worked fine ever since until I installed MSN 9. Sure would appreciate any help I can get. Possibly spyware wanting to phone home. Have you run anti-spyware apps?
