Contentie5 files

B

Bob S.

I am using XP Home and IE6. I hope that this question belongs in this
group and not in the ie6 group, because it seems to be a general
computer problem.

My contentie5 files keep growing. If left unchecked, I believe there
would be no limit on their size. They often have gone to more than
300,000 files( but always only 12 folders). I have to manualy delete
them every few days.* By the way, in IE6, unter tools, I have checked
"empty Temporary Internet files when opening browser".

Anyone know how to stop these folders and files from growing?

To reduce the size of your IE cache, do the following;

On the General page of Internet Options, click on the Settings
button in the Temporary Internet files section. Reduce the
amount of space allocated to between 50 and 100 MB.

To delete the files, do the following;

On the General page of Internet Options, click on the Delete
files button in the Temporary Internet files section. In the
Delete Files dialog, put a check mark in the box next to
"Delete all offline content". Click OK twice.

You can also use a program such as CCleaner to delete these
file.

Note: It makes no difference to me, but this question probably
does belong in the IE6 newsgroup.

Good luck

Thanks. I had already adjusted the settings under "Tools" and that
doesn't and didn't work. However, the CCcleaner program works
perfectly. Thanks again.
