Content Advisor quit working

Corey

I setup Content Advisor on my son's PC and it was working
fine until I disabled it a time or two to do some other
stuff, now it quit working. I set it as safe as possible
and deleted all the "Approved" sites and it still can
open any page out there. Any idea what happened?
Another wierd thing is when I go back in to make some
changes, there is always a blank web site in
the "approved" list. I can delete the entry, save my
changes, but when I go back in that blank site is there
again. I'm wondering if it's some sort of wildcard that
allows any web site to be viewed.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Corey - Content Advisor - Go here:
http://www.pchell.com/support/contentadvisor.shtml and do what it says
and/or see here to disable it completely or toggle it:
http://osiris.978.org/~brianr/nopics-ie/

Here's the basic procedure, but refer to the link above if you need more
detail: Go to Start|Run and then enter "regedit" (without the quotes). and
then navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings

Select the "Key" entry in the right-hand pane and
Delete it. Now go to Registry|Exit to close Regedit.

Now you'll be able to disable Content Advisor by opening IE6 and going to
Tools|Internet Options|Content. Click on "Disable". Then click on "OK" when
you're asked for a password - don't enter anything. OK out and CA is
disabled.

Alternatively, see here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm under
Content Advisor under "C" for info and specialized .vbs scripts to turn it
on and off and to modify specific settings.

If you wish to restore Content Advisor to its original condition (because of
your kids) you can obtain a Microsoft program (CA-Reset.exe - 89.5K) to do
this here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/CA-Reset.exe
(listed on line 283) NOTE: Using CA-Reset will completely delete your
Approved List - everything starts like brand new, so consider this before
you use it.
