Contacts not part of PST file

I use Outlook 2003 at home, and from time to time I make a copy of the PST
file to a USB pen drive (as a backup). Today I opened the file from the USB
drive, and it does not contain my contacts. I looked in the folder that
contains the original PST, and it has another file with a PAB file
extension. But that is dated 2006, and I know I've updated my contacts
since then, so that can't be it.

Why aren't my Contacts part of the PST file, and if they aren't, where would
the file be that contains them?

Thanks

They are...

Switch to the contact-view and you will see left hand the contact
folder(s) of the backup file ([name of the folde] in [name of the backup
file]).
