contacts in a distribution list

Hi. I have a distribution list set up in outlook 2000. I
want to send an e-mail to only one person in the
distribution list. After I open the distribution list, I
highlight the person's name, and clikc on Actions, New
Message to Contact. When I do this however, the whole
distribution list's name appears in the to line, not just
the one person. Is there a way to do this in outlook
2000? Thanks.
