Contacts imported from .txt file show up as semicolon

L

Lisa Utz

I am trying to import a list of e-mail contacts from
a .txt file, and create a distribution list from the
imported names.

Am I reading correctly that I have to mix them in with
all the other contacts in my general contact list and
then manually select them back into the distribution
list? What a pain!

The other problem is that Outlook creates vCards for the
imported addresses that look correct; the e-mail, contact
name, and display name are all there, but when you go to
send an e-mail nothing shows in the address window but a
semicolon.

What's going on, and how can I fix it? Urgently need to
get this e-mail out today!

Thanks.

Sounds like your text file may not have been delimited well. Each field on each line needs to be separated with a comma or tab. Opening it in Excel is a good diagnostic.
