contacts folder problems

Trying to display Contacts folder, error message appears saying outlook.pst
is in use and could not be accessed, close all programmes and try again.
I run xp professional and have an O2 XDA which I synchronise regularly.
E-mails are very slow to load and I can't back up as an error message appears
talking about cyclical stuff when it reaches the last 30 seconds.
Any help please?

2. A clearer description of what you are trying to do.
3. Your information store.
4. The steps that produced this problem.

3. Your information store. (not sure what you mean)
4. The steps that produced this problem. (see above)

"Cyclical stuff?"
As in cyclical redundancy error?
You either have a severely damaged PST file or a damaged hard drive or both.
I trust you back up your data.
Run the Inbox Repair Tool on your PST file to look for errors. Run a
scandisk utility on your hard drive to look for errors.

I'd still back up your data fully and look into replacing that hard drive.
It may not be long for this world.

Hi
I have this same problem, and where do I run a repair for my inbox? Also,
where do I do a scandisk utility? Just two days ago my MS Outlook started not
responding and I can't delete my messages (I think I have a virus) or do
anything. Thanks for helping.

\> I have this same problem, and where do I run a repair for my inbox?

Look in the "Microsoft Office" menu for "Microsoft Office Tools" and, in
there, the "Inbox Repair Tool". Otherwise, search your hard drive for
"SCANPST.EXE", which is the same thing.
Also, where do I do a scandisk utility?

Double-click "My Computer". Right-click your hard drive and choose
Properties. Select the Tools tab and check the "Check Now" button at the
top. Check the "Automatically fix file system errors" box and click Start.
If you get another pop-up asking if you want to perform the check the next
time Windows starts, click Yes. Reboot.

I also have this problem. Same Outlook version. I have completed the inbox
repair and also used original software to scan and repair and later even
reinstalled MS Office to no avail. My contacts are inaccessible. Syncing my
BlackBerry turned into a nightmare when the BB couldn't read the address book
it started deleting all my contacts. I also went to MS and downloaded
current updates / patches. Still no luck. HELP.
