When I right-click on the Contacts-Properties-Outlook Address Book, I am
unable to check the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" box. How can
I do it?

You first: what version of Outlook?

Microsoft Office 2003

Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing directories or address
boos>Next. Do you see "Outlook Address Book" in the list of services? If
not, click Add, then Additional Address Books, then Outlook Address Book and
follow the remaining prompts. Stop and restart Outlook. You should be able
to check that box in your Contacts properties now.

If you did see Outlook Address Book inthe services, selectit, click Remove,
stop and restart Outlook, then readd the service as above.

Brian I'm having the same problem, I've spent 3 hours going through "help"
"threads" and everything I can think of to make this work, but this box is
greyed out. I'm using 2007 Enterprise edition, but on my home machine with
no network, just single user.

Examine this thread again. I posted the method three minutes before you
posted your message.

Are you kidding me? I've read reread and retried everything that has been
written about this, I've tried to delete the item as you noted above, I've
done and redone everything that has been said. I'm fairly versed in
computers, was a one time a Microsoft certified partner but I can't get this
to work...it's like I don't have permission to change anything, but I'm
logged in as admin., this is very frustrating.

Ah. Outlook 2007. For that version you'll need to create a new profile.
You can't fix a broken Outlook ADdress Book service in an existing profile.
