Constant Vista Issues!

I am experiencing numerous issues with my computer running Vista. The
computer was purchased on January 30, 2007 with Windows Vista Home Basic
(because that's the only thing the stores around here would sell). I started
experiencing all of these problems the first time I turned on the computer.
More RAM was purchased and installed about a week later which marginally
improved speed but nothing more.

1. Constant freezing of system- requires restart (usually by holding the
power button) to allow for any type of action to occur. This happens several
times a day, about every hour.

2. Internet Explorer 7 only works some of the time. It stops allowing me to
right click, open new windows, or basically do anything. Other times it just
closes for no apparent reason. I downloaded Firefox in an attempt to avoid
using IE7 but, it won't connect to the internet- even after I've
checked/adjusted firewall settings.

3. Outlook 2007 is apparently only sending some of my emails although they
do appear under the "Sent Messages" folder and are no longer in the outbox.

4. Excel generates numerous errors, does not allow me to save and simply
closes and I lose all work. Every time I go into a spreadsheet I have to
scroll up and down to view anything otherwise it remains blank.

5. Everything is slow from startup (I've already minimized the number of
programs in start up) to opening programs to even using this website.

Essentially it has gotten to a point where I am spending about an hour a day
going though the whole restart process and then getting back to the point
where I was working. I'm losing work left and right and becoming more and
more frustrated. Microsoft's "Reliability Monitor" even shows a drastic
decline in system stability. All of the "Help and Support" programs show no
problems with the system and Microsoft isn't readily offering help with
anything.

It doesn't seem like I'm the only one. Any ideas?

Half of what you mentioned can be attributed to poor drivers. The other
half makes me think you simply have a corrupt install.

Who makes the computer? Model? Can you give more info on your specs?

That sounds like a hardware issue such as a bad motherboard or CPU,
bad ram, improperly seated video card, overheating or even a failing
power supply.

I would reurn the machine if possible. If you can't return it, take it
to your local computer shop and have them run diagnostics on it.
(ususally around $50.00).

Well... if you bought the PC from someplace like Fry's and it was the house
brand, I can almost guarantee that all they did was throw Vista on there
hoping it would work with the drivers/hw for that system. As others have
pointed out... need more system info to assist further.
