Windows XP Constant Crash on Logon

My PC will start ok and get to the user logon screen no trouble but when I try to logon as a user I get a glimpse of the desktop for about 10 seconds and then my PC reboots itself.

Does anyone have any suggestions about why this may be happening? And anything I can do to correct this issue?

Try re-starting in Safe Mode & once the pc boots up wait until the desktop appears, then log off.
And then re-start the PC, this may fix it?
