Constant, annoying, disturbing pop-ups

I just purchased a new computer, called IX, Product Model
PACIUP4260-L. My service no. with IX is PGI001251.
I am pleased with new computer although I would have
liked a larger screen. HOWEVER, THE CONSTANT POP-UPS,
TELLING ME HOW TO GET RID OF POP-UPS, AND CHARGING FOR
THIS SERVICE IS CERTAINLY FRAUDULENT. AS A MATTER OF
FACT, IT IS AN INVASION OF PRIVACY WHICH I HAVE ALREADY
REPORTED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. WE HAVE FINALLY RID
OURSELVES OF TELEMARKETERS WITH THE NEW PRIVACY LAW. NOW
OUR PRIVACY IS BEING INVADED ON COMPUTERS, WHILE WE ARE
DOING IMPORTANT WORK, WITH THE POP-UPS. I UNDERSTAND
THAT WINDOWS XP HAS SOMETHING EMBEDDED IN THE PROGRAM
THAT ALLOWS THESE POP-UPS. IF BILL GATES HAS ALLOWED
THIS TO MAKE MONEY FROM ADVERTISING, IT IS DISGRACEFUL.
IF HE HAS NOT ALLOWED IT, PLEASE ADVISE AS HOW TO GET RID
OF THESE POP-UPS FOREVER.

Hi Ilene

Go to start, settings, control panel, administrative
tools, services, right click messenger, click properties,
general tab, change startup type to DISABLED.

For future reference this newsgroup is the incorrect one for Windows XP
Professional/home editions. You can direct your questions to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Hope this helps,

Lynda
