Connecting to multiple networks

I have used my laptop at one of our work sites, and after giving myself the same user name and password as on the network I can succesfully connect to the network and work as usual. We also have ysite (different IP range and different Server name) for which I have the same user name and password. I expected to be able to connect to this network, but I am unable to see any of the network, no IP address is passed to my laptop and the mapped drives still show the drives from our first site. Is there a simple solution to this?, should I give myself a different user name and password at the second site and create this user as a new user on my laptop

Hi,

Are you using DHCP to obtain the I.P address ?
Take a look in your eventlogs (eventvwr) for error
messages.

Open a DOS prompt and type ipconfig /renew.
See if you get an error message

Some DHCP networks use MAC address filtering whereby you
have to give the nework Admin your network card's MAC
address to 'allow' it on the network. Ask them.

Each domain/server gives out user acounts various
SID's/RID's, etc. Your user account resolves to a unique
number. Therefore, on 2 separate networks/servers, your
useranme will resolve to 2 completely different numbers.

Clear up your IP situation, if there is one. You must be
able to see the server on the network.

When you connect to network shares, you should connect as
Domain Name (or Server name)\username. ie. MyDomain\DMC
