Connecting to a single pc via the www

I am setting up a remote desktop connection, using XP Pro for my pc at home,
for while I am away on holiday. I have set up a port on my router so I can
access it via the web, but I am stuck on what I use to access the pc as I do
not have a server (which the tutorial assumes you have).

Do I use the remote desktop connection & type in the ip address, port, and
pc name there to access the pc?

Any advice or tutorial links would be gratefully appreciated!

The Answer to your question is yes. All you do is start Remote Desktop and
type in the external ip address no port numbers need be entered. As long as
you have the external IP address and have setup correct forwarding from the
Router/Firewall to the computer inside your network then that should direct
all access.

If you don't know what your external IP address is check on
www.whatismyip.com. Also you need to check that you have been given a static
IP address from your provider.
