Your VGA cable is video only. You need to connect the TV to the sound card
in your computer. There should be a 1/8" line out jack from your sound
card. If the TV has a 1/8" line in you're all set. You may need a 1/8" to
RCA adapter to connect to the RCA input on your TV.

Check your laptop for a line-out socket, you can use the speaker or even the
headphone socket (depending on how sophisticated the sound out is on the
laptop), but you will need a cable that splits the sound from the small plug
to the type required for line-in on your TV.

Ideally you should use the line-out for sound from the laptop, but as I say
the headphone socket can be used, just sometimes it doesn't sound that great
when amplified.
