Connecting Mac to Windows Server 2003

I am currently having trouble connecting my Mac to a Windows 2003 Small
Business Server. The Mac is running OSX and will not connect because
it refuses the username/password which I know to be correct as I
successfully enter it on Windows machines. I have installed the
AppleTalk protocol on the server as well as File services for Mac which
still doesn't work. I also set the group policy "Send unencrypted
passwords to third-party SMB servers" to enable which still didn't
work.

Does anyone know of anything which could solve this ?

Many thanks in advance

This sounds like a well known issue when using SMB on a Mac to connect
to a Windows 2003 server.

Have a look at this from MacOSXHints.com

Incidentally, installing the AppleTalk protocol by itself does nothing
to enable Macs to connect to your server. File Services for Macintosh
does this. And AppleTalk will play absolutely no role when connecting
via SMB.

Hope this helps! bill
