Connecting both a SATA and ATA hard drive

Can I connect my new SATA hard drive as my master drive
and use my old ATA hard drive as slave or second hard
drive? Do I make the ATA a slave or leave the jumper in
the master mode?

Does your mother board have the sata controler built in or do you have a
controler card. Check your SATA manual cause when using certin SATA's you
can't use certin IDE channels.

Serial ATA and parallel ATA would be on separate cables and separate IDE
connections on the motherboard, so the master/slave questions doesn't come
into play. That's only needed when you have 2 devices on 1 cable. If it's
alone, you'd normally make it a master, but in most cases it really doesn't
matter.
