connect points on an X Y scatter chart

Is it possible to have a line connecting points on a scatter chart? I can go
into "format data series" and add a line, but it does not show up on the
chart.

That's generally the way to add a line. But...does your datasheet for the
scatterchart have empty data cells?

The data looks like this:

alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

I would keep the points in each country connected by a line.

Okay, thanks.

Open the chart and go to Tools|Options, and on the Chart tab, click
"interpolated." That should do it.

I'm reviving a zombie thread here to ask: how do you do this in PowerPoint 2010? I want interpolated lines in X-Y scatter plots with some blank cells in the data array, but it looks like these instructions no longer apply. Any help would be appreciated.
