connect Ms-dos and windows XP by "interlink. Is possible ?.

I need to connect two computers, one of them is a old computer ( 386 )
with windows 3.11 ( Ms-Dos ver 6. ), the another PC has Windows XP.

The old computer doesn’t have CD, only floppy disk. The new Pc has no
floppy.

I need to recover the data from the old Pc to the new .

I would like to try connect both PCs. Firstly I think it would be a good
idea using “interlnk†( a command from MS-dos ) whith a parallel cable; but
I think this command doesn’t work in windows XP ( I don’t know )

The question is :

Is possible to use “interlink†to connect both PCs ?. Are there some way
to emulate “interlink†in windows xp ?. If it is not possible How could I
connect both PCs to work one as “client†and the another as “server†?

Thanks

Hello juanra,

Some years ago I faced a similar problem. I installed the old HD into the
new machine as D: and copied everything I needed without a glitch. Since
both disks were of the same brand I had no problem to install the old one
as slave of the new C:.

It's even easier now. Install the old drive in an IDE enclosure that can
be connected to the new computer's USB port.

Admitedly an internal installation is cheaper, but there's noting to
keep you from pulling the old drive out of the enclosure when you've
copied the files to the internal drive and putting a new larger HD
mechanism in its place

Would Laplink work in this situation? I haven't used it in years, but it was
my workhorse in the Win 3 days.

Best bet is Andreas' solution, anyway.
