conflict windows journal viewer and adobe reader

When you try to install adobe reader, Windows XP SP2 tries to install windows
journal viewer from a non-existent folder. Probably there is a problem with
the INK manager (wisptis.exe), because this seems to be the component both
applications use. When you do a repair install of windows journal viewer this
problem is solved.
But when you open these applications event viewer keeps complaining:

Warning: MsiInstaller: Event 1004:
Detection of product '{43DCF766-6838-4F9A-8C91-D92DA586DFA7}', feature
'DefaultFeature', component '{9F47ECA8-A740-EC80-1AE2-C48048D83AA4}' failed.
The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Journal Viewer\' does not
exist.

Warning: MsiInstaller: Event 1001
Detection of product '{43DCF766-6838-4F9A-8C91-D92DA586DFA7}', feature
'DefaultFeature' failed during request for component
'{A4AD656D-72E9-43A7-9DD0-E5F6AF438E72}'

How can the underlying problem be solved?

A second issue is the fact that, when you start one of these applications,
wisptis.exe fires up although you haven't a pen input device tool. How can
you avoid running this unnecessary process?

I also have the same problem and am looking for a solution. I am using
XP Pro SP2 and Adobe reader 6.0.2.

Remove Adobe and Journal Viewer

Install Adobe and do all updates

Download and save Journal Viewer installer

Then install Journal Viewer

Unfortunately, that only works with a single user system. If there are
multiple users, the first time a new one logs on, they will have the
same issue.. Just don't install Journal viewer.....

copy journal viewer to local pc and install from there. Leave set up
files on local pc. Or uninstall Journal Viewer.. How useful is it
really?
