Configuring new ADSL

I jiust got a new ADSL provider and have had a heck of a time configuring it.
My 2 year old (new) IBM T40 has been and is faithfull and I have never had a
problem connecting to a new LAN or WiFi connection, but with the last
provider it is a mess. When initially setting it up it would not connect, the
IT techs, in the lack of my presence, uninstalled my anti virus and firewall
and told me it was neceassary. I reinstalled the programs and it worked
flawless.
A week later I got an Online Crash Analysis from MS stating that my driver
for the Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI had to be updated. Having
installed the new driver I'm now back to square one.
The situation now: The network icons in my systems tray shows that I'm
connected, to what I don't know, but not to the internet. To check if it
might be my computer I went to a wifi spot in town. I was able to connect
without a any problem what so ever.

Please advise

Might be a good idea tell how you connect to your ISP, access point /
router config etc, since hotspots work your problem may lie at home.

Hi Roberto
Wireless Connections > General: Connect Using Intel(R)PRO/Wireless LAN 2100
3B I (the driver that upgraded), When I check Obtain an IP address
automatically I have no connection what so ever, so I use check "Use the
following.." wnd type IP address 192 168 0 12; submask 255 255 255 0, Default
Gateway 192 168 1 1, "Use the following DNS address" I left blank (don't know
where to get it from) Wireless Networks: "Use Wind to config my.." Checked.
Also instelled under General tab Client for Microsoft Networks and WLAN
Transport.

Hope it helps.

Were are you getting those IP addresses from ? your WiFi device should
handle DHCP and hand out IPs to all machines, is this were you are
getting 192.168.0.12 from - unless it's only an AP. If so, how do you
connect to your ISP, with a modem/router ?.

It is a "Paradyne 6218 ADSL2+ CPE Router (TI), 802.11G WiFi" As for the IP I
honestly don't remember.

I think there lies you problem.
You need to use the web interface of the router and set it up correctly
to access your ISP as per their instrucions,[PPPOE /PPPOA username and
password etc] guessing here but it looks like http://192.168.1.1 is the
default.address, so type that into your browser.
You will also have to configure the WiFi , I recommend you start with
no encryption, allow all access, once it's all connecting OK then you
can tighten up security with WEP or better WPA-PK.
